Natural treatments, such as acupuncture and mindfulness techniques, may be effective ways to alleviate migraine headaches and other types of headaches. These therapies may work alongside conventional treatment approaches.

Research suggests that certain herbs may help alleviate headache symptoms. Examples include curcumin, chamomile and butterbur.

Diet changes may also help relieve headaches. For instance, cutting back on foods containing histamine may reduce headaches among those sensitive to this chemical (24). There is evidence to support acupuncture as an effective means of relieving migraine pain.

Ginger

Ginger has long been used as a soothing home remedy to relieve symptoms associated with digestion, nausea, upset stomach and pain relief. It may even ease migraine headaches with its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties produced by its chemical constituents (gingerols).

Ginger has been studied in several randomized controlled trials (RCTs), designed to evaluate its efficacy in treating migraines.33 One RCT evaluated the therapeutic efficacy of ginger combined with feverfew for treating 60 patients, and another industry-independent RCT assessed the 3-month prophylactic efficacy of dry ginger extract 200 mg three times a day with 5% active gingerols for treating another 107 people over 3 months.

Sipping ginger ale can be an affordable and quick sar dard ka ilaj and migraine pain, or apply ginger essential oil directly onto temples and neck. Be sure to dilute essential oil with carrier oil prior to application to skin; pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use ginger essential oil directly onto skin as this could increase risk.

Feverfew

Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium, also known as Chrysanthemum parthenium) first gained widespread renown as an herbal migraine treatment when, in 1978, a 68-year-old woman reported using three leaves daily of feverfew for 10 months to end a 50 year battle against debilitating migraines. Parthenolide may help prevent migraines by inhibiting chemicals within your body that cause blood vessels to expand and contract, potentially helping stop future episodes from occurring.

Herbal remedies like lavender can also be used to ease symptoms associated with rheumatoid arthritis, treat dermatitis, reduce anxiety and stress levels, assist with insomnia, ease toothaches, reduce nausea/vomiting relief as well as infertility issues. Easy-to-grow medicinal herbs like this one are readily available as capsules, tablets or tinctures for consumption.

One study demonstrated that people with migraines who took feverfew twice a day reported significantly fewer headaches with less pain and shorter duration than the placebo group. More research must be completed before feverfew can be recommended for treating migraines; feverfew may interact with certain medications (including aspirin ), so prior to taking feverfew consult your physician first.

Chuanxiong

Chronic headache (Migraine) can be one of the more challenging diseases to treat with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Evidence has indicated that dispelling pathogenic wind and breaking up blood stasis are essential to its treatment - one such herb known for this effect is Chuanxiong, the rhizome of Ligusticum Chuanxiong Hort, which is available both as an herbal extract or decoction form.

This herb is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and blood vessel widening properties, helping reduce migraine attacks while relieving associated tension. However, due to the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloids present within this herb, its use should only be undertaken under supervision from a licensed Chinese medicine practitioner.

As part of their commitment to safety, reputable herb suppliers only sell products which have been rigorously tested and verified to be free from potentially toxic compounds. Furthermore, it's wise to discuss any herbal treatment plans with your healthcare practitioner as some herbs could interact negatively with medications prescribed or cause side effects.

Reflexology

At home and natural remedies can be helpful in relieving headaches and migraine attacks, the first step should be identifying what triggers them. Avoiding strong odors like perfume, cigarette smoke or strongly-scented foods could help. Also, many find regular massage helps alleviate pain and discomfort.

Reflexology is a form of massage that involves massaging certain points on the feet and hands known as acupuncture points, to stimulate energy pathways which may improve overall health and alleviate any associated discomfort, including stress relief. Reflexology may help relieve pain as well as stress relief by stimulating these energy pathways and relieving anxiety.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), the purple bloom found both tropical and temperate plants, pakistan herbal products may help ease headache pain. Research suggests it acts as a GABAergic support to support your brain's natural pain-relief mechanisms while simultaneously calming your nervous system if migraine attacks or headaches trigger it.
